Fractional Product Manager

A product manager for something your company hasn’t done before.

I rarely join as a product manager these days - only when the work is groundbreaking for the company. Then I lead the product from discovery to go-to-market, with the domain or tooling knowledge it needs.

WHEN I JOIN

When I join as a product manager

These days I join as a product manager rarely - and when I do, it’s because the work is of extremely high importance for the company. Important enough to get a mandate to work outside the regular processes. The work I do is groundbreaking and impactful, and I’ve learned that results like that rarely come out of following the regular processes. Often it’s also something of an experiment: the company really wants to change something, and I like changing the status quo and experimenting.

One condition always applies: I need to be empowered to be a true product manager and build for impact - and building for impact comes before following processes.

01

Proving product management can work here

A first pilot that shows whether building products by the product operating model can work in your company.

02

A challenging goal or a hard technical problem

Something the company hasn’t done before, where a very senior product person can speed things up.

03

Redefining how the team works with AI

How product, design and engineering work together truly AI-natively, and how much more technical work a product manager or a designer can take on. If you already have an AI-native team and are missing a product manager who can hold their weight, that’s where I fit.

WHAT I DO

I build products and lead product development

🔍

Discovery:

Finding the problem worth solving, talking to customers and validating before building.

🧪

Prototyping with AI:

Prototyping ideas in Claude Design, Figma Make and Lovable before they go to engineering.

📝

Writing specs:

Specs the development team can build from - often straight from the prototype.

🛠️

Working with design and engineering:

Working with the designer and the development team throughout development to ship value.

🚀

Going to market:

Taking the product to market together with marketing and sales.

HOW I WORK

I work as part of your team

As a part-time member of your team, I make sure I’m there at the moments that matter. I join the key rituals and focus on the outcomes we agreed on at the start. We agree to measure my work by what ships and what impact it makes - not by how well I followed a process.

01

Prototypes before engineering

I use AI tools to prototype ideas before they go to engineering, so the team reacts to something real.

02

Specs the team can react to

First drafts of specs that engineers can react to, rather than waiting for a finished document.

03

Through to launch

I stay through go-to-market, working with marketing and sales.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Hopefully this answers some of your questions. If not, drop us an email at anna-liisa@produktize.eu

How is this different from hiring a consultant?

I don’t consider myself a consultant, and my goal isn’t to consult you. My goal is to make an impact - for you to see results - and to take responsibility for achieving them.

How long does an engagement typically last?

It depends on your goals, so it’s hard to say up front. With goals as big as change, six months is usually the minimum we work together.

Do you only work with product teams?

Mostly, yes - product management, design and engineering. If another team has a process that needs standardising and has development resources, I can work with them too.

Do you work remotely or on-site?

It depends on where you are. I’m based in Tallinn, and sometimes in Alicante, Spain. Anywhere else, it’s hybrid - I fly in and come to the office, just less often. I believe physical presence is important.

How is this different from hiring a consultant?

A consultant hands over recommendations. I take the role and own the outcomes. There’s no deck at the end - there’s a team that works differently, processes that are in place, and AI tools that are actually being used.

How long does an engagement typically last?

Long enough to see the change take hold - usually 6 to 12 months. Short enough that the team has to own it themselves before I leave. We agree on milestones at the start and track against them.

Do you only work with product teams?

I run product and design teams together. The two work best when they’re restructured as one unit with shared goals, not separate departments handing work to each other.

Do you work remotely or on-site?

Both, depending on what the engagement needs. I’m based in Tallinn, have worked across Estonia, the Nordics and Germany, and am comfortable with hybrid arrangements.
